The Indian Premier League was introduced back in 2008, and it was the first of its kind. And now it has become the biggest brand in this game. Not just in cricket, the IPL is one of the biggest sporting events to take place in the world.

Every cricketer who takes up this game thinks of playing in the IPL one day. This is the only cricket league that brings the best cricketers together in one place, and players even give priority to the IPL as compared to national duties during that time.

Hence, it will not be a wrong statement to say that the IPL is the biggest cricket tournament in the world at the moment. Former Australian opener and head coach Justin Langer also feels that the IPL is the biggest of all. He even said that the IPL is just like the Olympics of cricket.

Langer will start his IPL responsibility in the coming season as the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants. It will be his first IPL experience as a head coach. In a recent interview, Langer talked about the league and said that Ricky Ponting and Tom Moody used to talk about the IPL.

Former Australian head coach said, “The IPL is like the Olympic Games. It is so big. Every game is a spectacle; it is so well received, it is so well supported, not just at the stadiums but all through India and around the world.”

He also said that he is very excited to be part of the best cricket league in the world. Notably, under Langer’s coaching, Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021 and the Ashes after a period of 19 years in 2019. He was part of the recently concluded IPL 2024 auction with the Lucknow franchise and had his first experience.
