"He is very good commentator. But in team, I would not pick him"- Ex-Indian cricketer's bold statement on Dinesh Karthik for T20 WC

The IPL 2022 came as a turning point in the career of the veteran wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik. After performing well in the season, he was rewarded with a place in the Indian side after almost three years. Then, after doing a decent job within the Indian team as a new role of finisher, DK got his name in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2022. However, he will also be looking to do well to make it to the T20 World Cup.

But former Indian cricketer, Ajay Jadeja, feels that DK might not fit into the Indian side for the World Cup. Notably, after a dismal performance in the last T20 World Cup, India has made wholesome changes within the team. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India has taken an extra aggressive approach.

In a discussion on FanCode, Ajay Jadeja made a bold statement and said that if India keeps on the aggressive approach, even Virat Kohli will not find a place in the playing XI. However, he also said that if India goes in MS Dhoni’s way, then both DK and Virat will make it to the team. Ajay said that if India needs to continue the aggressive approach, then they need to pick the team in a different way.

He stated that if India keeps both Rohit and Virat, then Karthik must be in the team. Ajay added, “But if you don’t have either of them then Dinesh Karthik has no work here. But yes I would not put Karthik there, he can have a seat beside me. He is very good as a commentator. But there, in the team, I would not pick him.”

Ajay has picked Mohammed Shami for his team in the T20 World Cup in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, Shami doesn’t seem to be in India’s plan for the ICC event. India hasn’t picked him for the Asia Cup either.

The other bowling options that the former cricketer has picked are Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Chahal. He also chose his middle-order batters in Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Deepak Hooda.
