Faf du Plessis and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a long history together as the South African batter presented the Yellow Army for a decade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The player was associated with the franchise from 2011-21, except in 2016 and 2017, when CSK served their two-year ban.

Now, as per CricBuzz, both the parties are reunited, but this time in a different the league. If reports are to be believed, the CSK franchise has roped in the right-handed batter as a marquee signing for the CSA T20 League, which is likely to begin early next year. The CSA league authority has allowed the franchises to sign up to five players. The list needs to include one South African, three overseas with not than two from the same country and one uncapped player from South Africa.

The 38-year-old cricketer will be seen leading the Johannesburg franchise, which is owned by the Super Kings. Apart from him, the Chennai based franchise has also signed the services of all-rounder Moeen Ali, who plays for their franchise in IPL. Surprisingly, Moeen has prioritized playing in the CSA league instead of UAE League (ILT20).

The official name of the franchise will be announced in the coming weeks. The franchise is also in discussions with another CSK player Maheesh Theekshan before walking into the auction. It should be noted that the CSA league will clash with the newly-introduced UAE league and famous BBL, as they all have the similar window.

Faf du Plessis was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2022 auction for INR 7 crore. He was assigned the leadership role as Virat Kohli had stepped down from the role. In his first season with RCB, the former South African captain did a fine job as RCB went into the playoffs.
