It was an uneventful night for the captain of the Chennai Super Kings team. First, MS Dhoni lost the toss to Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant. The birthday boy Rishabh Pant then asked the Chennai Super Kings team to bat first in the tough batting conditions at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The ball was not coming onto the bat as expected. The pitch at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium was fantastic for batting in the last match of the Chennai Super Kings team, but it was not easy in Dubai. Also, the high-quality bowling from the players of the Delhi Capitals team made the job more challenging for the Chennai Super Kings batters.

MS Dhoni came out to bat in the tenth over after Robin Uthappa lost his wicket to R Ashwin. However, Dhoni could not play an impressive knock. He faced 27 deliveries and managed only 18 runs, hitting no fours or sixes.

Stephen Fleming defends MS Dhoni after his batting performance against Delhi Capitals

The head coach of the Chennai Super Kings team, Stephen Fleming participated in a virtual press conference after his team’s defeat against the Delhi Capitals. When asked to talk about the innings that Dhoni played, Fleming replied:

“He wasn’t the only one. It was a difficult day for strokeplay. It was a tough wicket to score big on, in terms of the big shots. Both teams struggled with that towards the end of the innings. Sometimes you set your sights too high, too many. Probably we were 10-15 runs short of having a match-winning score.”
