Although Pathan refrained from naming anyone explicitly, his intentions seemed to be aimed at individuals from Pakistan who appeared to be rejoicing over India’s defeat of 2-3 in the T20I series against the West Indies.

During their extensive stay in the Caribbean spanning a month, the Indian team secured victories in both the Test and ODI series. However, their fortunes in the shortest format were more turbulent.

After succumbing to defeat in the initial two T20Is, they managed to stage a comeback by winning the subsequent two matches, only to stumble in the final encounter. Notably, this marked West Indies’ first series triumph against India since 2007.

Following India’s loss, some Pakistani fans took the opportunity to taunt, prompting Pathan to share a message on his social media account. He wrote: “Begaani Shadi mein Abdulla deewana… #sunday #padosi.”

After retiring from professional cricket, Pathan has been notably engaged as a commentator, primarily collaborating with Star Sports. Meanwhile, the Indian team’s upcoming schedule include a limited-overs series against Ireland, followed by their participation in the Asia Cup.

Pathan, renowned as one of India’s finest pacers, has a history of playfully targeting neighboring teams. Following India’s defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final last month, he shared on his official Twitter account, “Suddenly all the padosis are entering my timeline with happiness cos Team India lost the WTC final. I was so right about them.”
