Parthiv Patel, the former India wicketkeeper-batter, has recently addressed Sanju Samson’s struggle with poor scores during the ongoing West Indies tour. In the second T20I at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, the Men in Blue suffered a two-wicket defeat, and Samson could only manage to score seven runs.

Due to injuries to Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, the ongoing wicketkeeper dilemma has kept Samson in contention for a place in the ODI World Cup squad. However, the player from Kerala hasn’t been able to seize the opportunities presented to him in the Caribbean tour.

While he scored a fifty in the third ODI, his performance in the T20I series has been disappointing, having only recorded 19 runs across two matches so far.

In the second ODI, Sanju Samson faced Akeal Hosein’s delivery and attempted to come down the track. However, he missed the ball as it turned significantly, leading to a stumping by Nicholas Pooran, and he was dismissed for just 7 runs.

According to Parthiv Patel’s opinion, if Sanju Samson continues to struggle with poor scores, his time in the team might be running out.

“Whenever Samson doesn’t get a chance, there’s always a lot of talk surrounding him, but he hasn’t been able to capitalize on those opportunities yet. Perhaps time is starting to run out for him, it’s hard to say for sure,” said the former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel.

Samson has been a topic of discussion due to his frequent presence on the bench and not getting a place in the playing XI. “Despite getting multiple opportunities, he hasn’t been able to deliver the desired results. Interestingly, Tilak Varma was the only batter who seemed comfortable during the matches,” said the former Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper batter.

West Indies have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the five-match series, making it nearly impossible for the opposition to make a comeback. Under Rovman Powell’s captaincy, the team faced some tense moments towards the end of the match but managed to secure victory in the penultimate over thanks to Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph’s cool and composed outing.
