Rohit has scored three consecutive half-centuries in the four innings he has played. He has scored 194 runs in four innings at an average of 64.67 and a strike rate of 108.99 and has given the Indian team a good start. Apart from batting, he has led the team in a brilliant way, and his bowling changes have worked more often than not.

Rohit has used his bowlers and made bowling changes when required. That is why India became the first team to qualify for the finals of the tournament. Notably, Rohit led India to win the Asia Cup 2018 as well, and now they will play another final on September 17.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, who is known for his blunt statements, has said that Rohit Sharma has reached such heights because of MS Dhoni. In the last game against Sri Lanka, Rohit completed 10,000 ODI runs and became the second-fastest batter to do so.

In a discussion on Star Sport, Gambhir said, “Scoring 10,000 ODI runs was not easy for him. He has gone through many ups and downs. Having seen that phase, Rohit, as a captain, will back youngsters who go through a difficult period. Rohit Sharma is Rohit Sharma today because of MS Dhoni.”

Rohit made his T20I debut under MS Dhoni in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Dhoni groomed him as a cricketer, and he was the one who gave Rohit the chance to open the innings, and things changed from there on. Gambhir also drew comparisons between Dhoni and Rohit as captains. He said that Dhoni used to back the youngsters, and that is why he was so successful, and Rohit also did the same as a captain.
