“Virat and Rohit are big players but I am…”- Gerald Coetzee issues warning to Team India ahead of Test Series

Team India will be facing South Africa in a much-awaited two-match test series starting on Boxing Day. The tour started with a three-match T20I series, which ended 1-1. It was followed by the ODI series, which India won 2-1. The first test will take place on December 26 in Centurion.

This series is part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2023–25. Team India have never won a test series in Rainbow Nation. This time, it will be a great chance for Rohit Sharma and his men to script history.

However, it won’t be that easy because South Africa have a great record at home. It will be a test for the Indian batting unit. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be the backbone of the batting order, but they will be up against some fierce pacers. Young South African pacer Gerald Coetzee has been incredible for his team.

He was also the top wicket-taker for his team in the World Cup 2023 in India and will be a possible threat for India. He was also picked up by the Mumbai Indians for INR 5 crore at the IPL 2024 auction. In a recent chat with RevSportz, he said that he wants to be up against Rohit and Virat, and the upcoming series will be the toughest challenge for him.

Coetzee said, “I want to test myself against the best. Virat Kohli and Rohit are big players. I am a competitor and want to be tested at the highest level. But for them, I don’t think it will be anything new.”

The pacer also revealed that former South African legend Dale Steyn was his idol, and he helped him during his tough times. Coetzee also said that he wished to play under him one day. Well, it will be a very challenging series for both teams, as there are some big players taking part in the series. However, for the fans, it will be an exciting contest.
