Cricket enthusiasts worldwide reveled in joy as the Afghanistan cricket team secured a resounding victory over the Pakistan cricket team during the 22nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on Monday, October 23.
Led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan cricket team clinched a historic 8-wicket win against Babar Azam’s Pakistan National Cricket Team, marking their first triumph over Pakistan in eight ODIs.
In pursuit of a target of 283 runs on the challenging Chennai pitch, the top four batters of Afghanistan displayed remarkable prowess, leaving the Pakistan bowlers helpless. Notably, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Rahmat Shah each contributed half-centuries, guiding Afghanistan to victory and completing the chase in 49 overs.
Prior to this, Afghanistan’s bowlers restricted Pakistan to a total of 282/7 in 50 overs. Noor Ahmad emerged as the standout performer for Afghanistan, claiming a 3-wicket haul. Naveen-Ul-Haq secured two wickets, while Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi each took one wicket.

Numerous cricketers and experts also turned to their online platforms to applaud Afghanistan’s remarkable feat.
