Gujarat Titans’ India A batsman Sai Sudharsan set to play English County for Surrey

English domestic team the Surrey county cricket club has acquired the services of Sai Sudharsan, a promising Indian batsman from the India A team, to bolster their lineup for the last three matches of County Championship matches this season.

At present, Surrey holds the lead in Division One, staying ahead of their closest rivals Essex by a margin of 17 points. With Tom Latham fulfilling international duties after a brief mid-season period, Ollie Pope sidelined due to injury, and Will Jacks along with Sam Curran representing England, the inclusion of Sudharsan will undoubtedly strengthen the batting lineup of the reigning champions.

With just 21 years of age, Sudharsan, the skilled left-handed batter, has caught attention with notable displays, such as smashing a century against Pakistan A during the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup and delivering a scintillating 96-run performance in the IPL 2023 final vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while playing for the Gujarat Titans.

Despite having participated in only eight first-class matches, the 21-year-old Sudharsan boasts an impressive average of 42.71, highlighted by two centuries.

Notably, he has been an active participant in the IPL for the Gujarat Titans over the past two seasons after was picked in the IPL Auction for mere 20 Lakh and is considered as one of the biggest future prospect for the Indian cricket team.

Surrey county cricket club is currently at the top of the English County Championship Division with 183 points beside their name from 11 matches. Throughout the season, they have won 7 matches, lost 1 matches and the other matches ended in draw.

Sai Sudharsan is very much likely to make his debut for club in their upcoming match against Warwickshire, that will start on September 3rd. He becomes the team’s second overseas addition in this season after Kemar Roach. Meanwhile, Tom Latham and Sean Abbott, the other overseas players of the team are presently engaged in international series representing New Zealand and Australia, respectively.
