Ahead of the series, not many gave a chance to South Africa. Firstly, they were going through a transition and were missing the services of Anrich Nortje. India, on the other hand, is a top-ranked Test team at the moment. Hence, many felt that Virat Kohli’s men would win the series. After the first game went India’s way, many even predicted that it would be a whitewash.
However, the South African Team regrouped and did well against the Indians. They outbowled the Indian Team and also had some stellar performances with the bat. Hence, they won the series, despite losing the toss in all the games.
Keegan Petersen reflects after becoming the Player of the Series
Keegan Petersen was the star for South Africa. The 28-year old, who is fairly new to the Test arena, brought out a special display throughout the series. He scored 276 runs in 3 games at an average of 46. He was the highest run-scorer and was given the Player of the Series award.
Speaking about the same, he said, “I don’t know how I feel, it hasn’t sunk in yet. Happy, emotional but just grateful to have had the opportunity. “
Talking about his performances, he added, “It’s not been easy even coming into Tests; challenging wickets, changing conditions, have had to deal with what has been in front of me. We’ve always had to tough it out against a high-quality bowling attack, high-quality team. Just spending time at the wicket is crucial.” He signed off saying he enjoyed every moment of it in the series.
