Indian batting unit failed miserably in a low run chase.

India Women suffered a shocking loss to Pakistan Women in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. Batting first, Pakistan didn’t look at their best as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. A fifty from Nida Dar ensured her side past the 130-mark, which still didn’t seem sufficient.

However, Women in Blue showcased a poor display of cricket as they failed to chase down 137. They bundled up for just 124 in 19.4 overs, handing a 13-run victory to Women in Green. Post the match, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur shed light on their unexpected defeat.

The Indian skipper feels that the batters played too many dots balls and didn’t rotate the strike which affected their chase. “It was a chaseable target. In the middle overs, we were not able to take singles and rotate the strike. We played too many dot balls,” Harmanpreet said in the post-match presentation.

She went on to say that their idea of giving chances to more names ahead of the T20 World Cup next year costed them the game. The marquee event will be played in South Africa and India are trying a couple of things to head into the tournament with all areas covered.

Despite their defeat, India are topping the points table with three wins to their name in four matches. They will lock horns with Bangladesh Women on October 8 (Saturday).

Pakistan, on the other hand, are also in a comfortable position in the table, having been ranked second. They will next play against the UAE Women on October 9 (Sunday).
