On Monday (8 August), the BCCI announced India’s squad for the 2022 Asia Cup, which is scheduled to get underway on 27th of August. While KL Rahul and Virat Kohli made a return, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were left out of the squad owning to their respective injuries.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are some of the notable omissions from the squad for the multi-nation tournament. Now, Kishan, expressing his disappointment, has come up with a motivation story on his Instagram post his snub from the squad.
The southpaw shared a picture of himself training in Indian jersey with a song ‘Humble Poet’ by Bella. He shared the part of the song, which read: “Ab aisa banna nahi, bhale ghayal ho jana. Tujhe phool samjhe koi, tu fire ho jana. (Don’t become something else even if it pains you. If someone considers you a flower, become a fire.)”
“Bella pichhe rehna magar sambhal jaana, in sab aage walon ki tarah naa gaayab ho jaana, meri baat sun main hate deke kaha jaaunga? Yaa fir aisa kahun, hate leke badal jaaunga“, the caption continued.

The reason behind the exclusion of Ishan Kishan, might be his inconsistency with the bat in recent times. His last six T20I scores are 11, 8, 3, 26, 15 and 27. The Rohit Sharma-led side also tested players like Surykumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the opening slot, even in the presence of Ishan Kishan.
It clearly shows that the management was not very keen to bet on the left-handed batter for the mega-event. The return of KL Rahul, who is usually the preferred opener of India in T20Is, would have only made the case difficult for Kishan.
