Ravindra Jadeja attained the number one position on the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders earlier today. The Saurashtra-based player rose to the top spot after a Man of the Match award-winning performance against the Sri Lankan cricket team. The ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team got underway on March 4 at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
It was Virat Kohli’s 100th Test and Rohit Sharma’s 1st Test as the captain of the Indian cricket team, but fans will remember it because of the all-round brilliance from Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder stole the show with his 175-run knock in the first innings and a nine-wicket haul in the next two innings.
Jadeja returned with a five-wicket haul in the first innings and then added four more to his tally in the second innings. The southpaw was 18th on the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders on the first day of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Sri Lankan cricket team and the Indian cricket team.
At the end of the match, Jadeja climbed 17 spots and bagged the number one position in the Test rankings. Fans from across the world have approved the promotion, and many feel that there is no better than Jadeja in all formats of cricket as an all-rounder at the moment.
MS Dhoni knew the talent of Ravindra Jadeja 12 years ago
Back in 2010, former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni said the following about Jadeja during an interview with Vikram Chandra:
“We need to have patience. One day Jadeja will be the all-rounder that India needs.”
Thala knew it way back ✌🏻

Fans should note at that time Jadeja was a part of the Rajasthan Royals team and did not have a guaranteed place in the Indian team.
