Team India has been the best team by far in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They have won all six matches they have played in the tournament. As a result, they are at the top of the points table with 12 points in total.

The hosts have shown great performances, and almost every player has stepped up and shown great maturity. Rohit Sharma has led the team from the front, and Virat Kohli has done what he is known for and scored plenty of runs in the chase.

Then in the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have made the ball talk, and Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have made the batters dance on their ball. All in all, it looks like India’s tournament, and if they go on to win the tournament, it won’t be a surprise.

But after winning six out of six, can India still get eliminated from the tournament? Well, mathematically, it is possible. That is one of the reasons why, despite winning six consecutive games, India hasn’t qualified for the semi-finals yet. However, India’s elimination looks impossible from here on, but we have seen some unexpected things happen in the past.

Can India still get eliminated from the semifinal race of the World Cup 2023?

Notably, India still has three more games to play. They will face Sri Lanka and South Africa on November 2 and 5, respectively. India will face their last group match against Netherlands on November 12 in Bangalore. South Africa can give India tough competition. But if, by any chance, India fails to win any game from here on, they will be left with 12 points on the board.

On the other hand, if Australia and New Zealand win two of the three matches left for them, then both teams will be on 12 points. Then, if Afghanistan can win all three of their remaining games, they will be on 12 points. South Africa, which has ten points, wins one of their next three games and moves to 12 points as well.

In that case, there will be five teams with 12 points each. But because India would lose three consecutive games, it would also affect their NRR, and they would get eliminated. However, looking at the current form, it looks like India will be the first team to qualify for the semis.
