Team India became the first team to qualify for the final of the Asia Cup 2023 with two big wins in the Super Four. Though they lost the last game against Bangladesh, that result will not hurt any more.

On the other hand, after beating Pakistan, the Sri Lankan team made it to their record 11th final of the Asia Cup. Now India and Sri Lanka will play in the final on September 17 (Sunday) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

This will be the ninth final between these two teams in the Asia Cup. Well, everyone is excited for the coming game, as two of the best teams will face each other to make Sunday more interesting. But the biggest worry for the fans is the weather. Though the last two games didn’t have many rain breaks, the forecast for Sunday is not good.

There are 80 percent chances of rain on Sunday in Colombo during the game. We might see some rain stoppages in the game. Though the Asian Cricket Council has allotted a reserve day for the final, And if it rains on Sunday, then the game will move onto the next day, just like it happened in the game between India and Pakistan earlier this week.

But a more worrying sign is that the forecast predicts 90 percent rain on Monday. It means we might see more rain on Reserve Day. So what will happen if the play on Sunday and Monday gets washed out? Will the team with more points or better NRR win the trophy?

No, but if there is no play on both days of the game, then India and Sri Lanka will share the trophy and be the joint-winners of the tournament. This will not be the first time that two teams end up as joint winners. Earlier in the 2002 Champions Trophy, the same scenario happened when India and Sri Lanka were declared the winners after the final was called off due to rain.
