We are about 20 hours, as of writing this, away from the biggest spectacle of the game, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to be held in India from 5th of October. The opening match of the tournament will be played between the defending champions England and the last time finalist New Zealand.

This edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup holds an immense because it could be the last World Cup for many greats of the game, including the Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, who is now 36-years-old and will be 40 by the time the next World Cup comes.

Meanwhile, some important players are also set to miss the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign for their national team because of injury. England cricket team is already missing the services of its star pacer Jofra Archer.

There is now another sad news for the England team as their star all-rounder Ben Stokes is likely to miss the opening match of the tournament against the Black Caps on the 5th of October.

The superstar all-rounder, who is also the England Test team captain, is carrying a hip injury as per reports. Stokes came out of retirement on the request of England captain Jos Buttler. Stokes also missed the most of the IPL 2023 with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to injury.

The opening match of the World Cup 2023 will be played between England and New Zealand on the 5th of October from 2 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, host India will be in action on the 8th October against Australia in their first match.
