This season will begin from 26th March 2022 with the final being played on 29th May with a total of 74 matches under the new format.

However, the exit of Jason Roy before the start of the league created an issue for the Gujarat Titans squad for a moment. The English player decided to withdraw his name from the league because of bio bubble fatigue. The fans were hoping to see Mr. IPL Suresh Raina taking his place, but, that didn’t happen.

Led by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans have reportedly decided to sign the Afghani player Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the replacement. It took the cricketing fraternity with a surprise. However, the 2 main reasons behind his selection were the influence of Rashid Khan as he has been his senior in the Afghanistan’s national squad and secondly, the option of having a backup wicket keeper seemed like a great deal.

The side currently only has 1 keeper in the form of Saha, as Matthew Wade won’t be available for the season before April 6. As reported by Cricbuzz, GT has taken the decision keeping the current Wriddhiman Saha issue in mind.

Saha is expected to be their first choice keeper but they wanted to have a back-up option so as not to be caught off-guard by an unexpected turn of events.

Many of the Indians fans were hoping to see Suresh Raina taking Roy’s place. However, with that thing not happening, it would be exciting to see how Gurbaz performs as this could also turn out to be a game-changing opportunity for him.
