The first T20I game between India and West Indies ended with the last over. But it was the hosts who held their nerve and took the game deep. Eventually, West Indies came out victorious by a four-run margin. It was also the fourth-lowest total defended by an opposition against India in T20Is.

For India, the bowlers did a great job and restricted the opposition to just 149/6 in 20 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal, who was making his comeback in the playing XI, took 2/24, while Arshdeep Singh also took 2/31. However, there was one moment that caught the eye of everyone.

It came when India lost the wicket of Kuldeep Yadav in their chase. He was dismissed by Romario Shephered on the first ball of the 20th over, needing 10 runs off five balls. It was Chahal who came out to bat. Coming out to bat, he almost reached center field when the Indian management called him back.

It appeared that they were looking to send Mukesh Kumar to bat instead. But it was very late, and Chahal had already reached the pitch and was the legal batter. As a result, India was not able to change the situation. The umpires also stopped him from going back.

According to the cricket laws, if the batsman comes to the crease after the wicket falls,  he can’t go back. That’s why he was stopped by the umpires. Though it wouldn’t make any difference in the result. India lost the game by four wickets.

It could be an eye-opening result for the Indians, who couldn’t chase down the total of 150 runs. For India, debutant Tilak Varma was the top scorer and made 39 runs off 22 balls, with two fours and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav (22), Sanju Samson (12) and Hardik Pandya (19) all got starts, but no one made it big for the team.
