“He’s got at least 5 to 10 years left in him”- David Hussey feels Ajinkya Rahane can play for India till 2032

Kolkata Knight Riders mentor David Hussey has opined that his team’s member Ajinkya Rahane can play more matches for the Indian cricket team. Rahane, who recently lost his place in the Indian Test squad, earned a contract from the Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

In KKR’s pre-season press conference of IPL 2022, mentor David Hussey said that Ajinkya Rahane has at least five to ten years of international cricket left in him, hinting that Rahane could play for the Indian cricket team till 2027 to 2032. Rahane is 33 years old right now, so as per Hussey, the right-handed batter can play for India till the age of 38 to 43.

Hussey defended Rahane’s recent form and labeled him as a class player. He pointed out how the Indian batter would dominate the bowlers during his stint with the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Here’s what Hussey had to say:

“Rahane is a class player. He’s been a class player for over a decade for Indian cricket; he’s dominated for the Rajasthan Royals. I think he’s got at least 5 to 10 years of international cricket left in him. He’s a class player. He’s just a quality human being and I am happy that he’s part of our team.”

Ajinkya Rahane will play for Kolkata Knight Riders for the first time in his IPL career

Rahane has been a part of the Indian Premier League since the inaugural season. The right-handed batter started his career with the Mumbai Indians before moving to the Rajasthan Royals. Rahane also played for the Rising Pune Supergiant and Delhi Capitals. Now, he will wear the KKR jersey for the first time in his IPL career.

The 33-year-old is likely to open the innings for the Kolkata Knight Riders along with Venkatesh Iyer or Sunil Narine. It will be interesting to see how Rahane performs for the Kolkata-based franchise in IPL 2022.
