Former Australian cricket team leg-spinner Shane Warne shockingly passed away last week. The 52-year-old breathed his last in Thailand. According to his social media profile, Warne had been to Thailand for a special program to get his body back in shape. He even shared in the caption that he had been doing well.

In fact, just 12 hours before the news of his death surfaced, Warne posted a story on his Instagram account, reacting to the demise of Rodney Marsh. Now, Warne’s friend Tom Hall, who was with him during the final hours of his life, shared the details of what happened in Thailand.

Hall wrote in his website The Sporting News that Warne’s last meal was Vegemite with some butter. Further describing the last few conversations he had with Warne, Hall wrote:

“The first question is, ‘How can we watch Australia v Pakistan Test here in Thailand? The game’s about to start.’ Warney and cricket were never far apart.”

Shane Warne gifted his IPL 2008 shirt to Tom Hall

Tom Hall revealed that Warne had been working for his website The Sporting News with him for quite some time. During their time together, Warne gifted Hall his 2005 Ashes jumper, his 2008 Rajasthan Royals jersey, an ODI t-shirt and cap to keep in his offices in Australia and the UK.

Warne had a very successful career in international cricket and the IPL. The right-arm leg-spinner was the first skipper to win the IPL as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals team back in the year 2008. Speaking of his career in Test cricket, he scalped more than 700 wickets. He is the highest wicket-taker for Australia in the longest format of the game.

Cricket Australia paid tribute to him by announcing that the Southern Stand at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground will be renamed the SK Warne Stand in the spinner’s memory.
