Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami recently shared his first reaction of watching Jasprit Bumrah bowl in the Indian Premier League. Fans instantly noticed Bumrah because of his unique bowling action. Despite his different bowling action, Jasprit troubled the batters with his accuracy and pace.
Bowling alongside Lasith Malinga, Bumrah perfected his death bowling skills and is now the most successful pacer for the Indian cricket team in the T20I format of cricket. Bumrah and Shami played together for the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup that happened last year. They also shared the pace-bowling attack’s responsibilities during the ICC Cricket World Cup which happened in 2019.
Speaking to Indian Express, Shami admitted that he felt Bumrah’s bowling action a little strange at first and he was amazed at his ability to generate so much pace. Shami could not understand from where did Bumrah generate so much power.
“The first time I saw him was during the IPL. It felt a bit strange seeing him because of his bowling action. I wondered how someone could bowl so fast with that action and where he got the power from,” Shami said.

While Jasprit Bumrah has been a part of the Mumbai Indians team since his debut, Shami has played for multiple franchises in his career. He first played for the Kolkata Knight Riders before switching to the Delhi Capitals. He then played for the Punjab Kings and is now a member of Bumrah’s home franchise Gujarat Titans.
Shami is the most experienced Indian bowler in the Gujarat Titans squad. Head coach Ashish Nehra has shown immense faith in his bowling skills. It will be interesting to see if Shami can guide the Titans to the championship in their first ever season.
