After a humiliating exit from the 2022 T20 World Cup, India has sidelined skipper Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli from the shorter format. Since then, it has been Hardik Pandya who has been leading the team in T20Is, while Rohit is continuing the captaincy in the other two formats.

Though Hardik has done a pretty good job as T20I captain, the ongoing series against the West Indies hasn’t gone their way so far. India has lost its first two matches and is on the verge of losing a series against the Caribbean Team. It has raised questions about the exclusion of senior players from the T20I team.

Many believe that Rohit and Virat still have cricket left in them to play in T20Is. Meanwhile, Rohit has broken his silence on the T20I snub and said that it is not possible for players to play in all three formats.

According to the Indian Express, Rohit opened up about his T20I future during an event in the USA. The Indian captain said that the management conveyed to the players that with the ODI World Cup coming up, the primary focus will be ODIs, so the players who are playing all three formats will be rested to manage the workload.

He stated, “For some of the players, it’s not possible to play all three formats. So we decided that they should get enough break time and manage them. I definitely fall in that category as well.”

In the hectic Indian cricket schedule, it is important to manage the workload of the players, who are part of all three formats. Players like Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami are key in all formats. Thus, the Indian management wants to manage and make sure they are fit for the games. With two big events coming up this year, the management wants all these players to have enough time to start fresh.
