Indian cricket team opener Ruturaj Gaikwad disclosed that he credits his success and match-winning approach to Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni’s guidance. Gaikwad, instrumental in India’s series-clinching victory against Australia, highlighted Dhoni’s emphasis on reading the game situation and sending strategic messages during his time with CSK.
In a post-match statement, Ruturaj explained Dhoni’s focus on understanding the game’s progression and team requirements in specific overs. He stressed the importance of patience in T20s, echoing Dhoni’s advice not to rush thoughts and utilize the ample time available for openers to settle.
“I have learn being in CSK, Mahi Bhai was always keen on reading situation and understanding the game, how the game will progress. He sends a message where you have to look for the team score, what the team required in the particular over,” said Gaikwad post match in JioCinema.
