Marco Jansen opens up about his altercation with Bumrah

The ODI series between the sides will start on 19th January. Ahead of the tournament, Marco Jansen sat down to share his thoughts on the recent Test games and the upcoming series. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in the competition, with 19 scalps from three games. Jansen also had a few decent knocks with the bat.

When asked about his exchange with Jasprit, Jansen said, “Obviously, I played with Jasprit Bumrah in the IPL, we are good friends but sometimes on the field, things get heated.”

The tall pacer added, “You play for your country, you are not going to back down for anyone, and obviously, he plays the same way as well. There are no hard feelings, it just happened in the heat of the moment.”

It all started when Jansen bowled a series of bouncers when Bumrah came to the crease. The Indian pacer was not happy and he had a few words with Jansen. The youngster, too, responded and the umpire had to intervene. Later, after he had him clean bowled, Bumrah started at Jansen, which further intensified the altercation.

An important ODI series for both teams

Meanwhile, Team India will be involved in an ODI encounter after a very long time. Back when India toured Sri Lanka, the team had mostly youngsters. The seniors will be a part of the upcoming assignment. KL Rahul will lead the team. For South Africa, it will be an important series because with the World Cup happening in 2023, any game against quality opposition will be valuable.
