Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway recently shared his experience of watching the final match of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. India played against Sri Lanka in that match and won the game in Mumbai. MS Dhoni played an excellent knock of 91 runs to help India win the match against Sri Lanka.

On that night, India became the first nation to win the Cricket World Cup Final on their home turf. Dhoni was the hero for the country as he led the team from the front in the most important game of the competition. He had a great partnership with Gautam Gambhir, who scored 97 runs. Dhoni finished things off in style with a magnificent six off Nuwan Kulasekara’s bowling.

Devon Conway was not a well-known cricketer back in 2011. In fact, he was not even a New Zealand player. He was in his home country South Africa during the final. Here’s what Conway had to say:

“Dhoni is class, I really wished I was there in the dugout when he finished the game against Mumbai, to experience the feeling of Dhoni magic, I was cheering for every run during that match from South Africa, I won’t forget that day.”

Devon Conway played under MS Dhoni’s captaincy for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022

Conway was one of the new players signed by the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The left-handed batter formed good partnerships with IPL 2021 Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad in the CSK colors.

When the season began, Conway was a little disappointed because after his arrival, Dhoni stepped down as captain. He wished to play under him, and in the second half of the season, his wish was fulfilled as Dhoni took over the reins of the team.
