India has been fortunate in avoiding rain interruptions in their league stage matches of the World Cup 2023, following two washouts in their warm-up matches in Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.

Indian cricket enthusiasts had a moment of concern on Wednesday, as Pune experienced some rain on the eve of the World Cup 2023 fixture. Thus far, the only match significantly affected by rain has been the South Africa vs Netherlands clash in Dharamsala, which was reduced to a 43-overs-a-side contest.

Weather conditions in Pune are expected to see a high of approximately 32 degrees around the time of the toss at 2pm IST on Thursday. Humidity is predicted to be around 50 percent, with 57 percent cloud cover in the afternoon.

As evening approaches, the temperature is anticipated to drop to about 24 degrees, with humidity increasing to 72 percent. There is also a possibility of dew in the evening, with the dew point at around 20 degrees.

Historically, Pune has been known for high-scoring matches in all formats of the game. Since 2017, in three out of five ODIs played in Pune, teams batting first have posted 300-plus totals. However, it’s worth noting that this will be the first international match at the venue in nine months. Although there was some drizzle on the eve of the match, the forecast remains optimistic for sunshine on match day.
