The Indian cricket team have two targets set at their sight, the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the T20 World Cup 2022 to be hosted by the defending champions Australia in October and November.

After the arrival of former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the team after the T20 World Cup 2021, he has been handed a big task of taking this through the transition phase. Dravid have also gone with some out of the box inclusions in the team, which meant that veterans are now slowly slowly making their way for the next generation of stars.

Dhawan is very much known for his big game big performance ability. Dhawan has been an asset for the Indian team in multi-team tournament, one of those is the Asia Cup. While it is understandable as to why he has not been picked in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022, having not played T20I for India for very long.

But maybe, the Indian fans and Dhawan himself was confident of a return. Dhawan was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying that he is doesn’t want to be a burden to the Indian team, but be an asset.

Till the time I am playing for India, I would like to be an asset and not a liability. I am a calm, mature person,” stated the Delhi batsman.
