The recent form of the team also encourages fans to believe that India is expected to do well. The hsots have prepared well and have chosen the best possible suqad for the mega event, including the last-minute change. Star all-rounder Axar Patel, who suffered an injury during the Asia Cup 2023, was ruled out of the competition.

The 36-year-old veteran off-spinner Ravi Ashwin replaced him in the squad. Many liked Ashwin’s inclusion as it gives India the option of off-spin for their bowling department. Ashwin himself feels pretty lucky to be part of the World Cup squad for India. The warmup match between India and England has been delayed due to rain.

Meanwhile, Ashwin interacted with Anjum Chopra and dropped a massive retirement hint. He stated that this could be his last World Cup for Team India. Notably, Ashwin was included in the ODI series against Australia and played two games. Before that, he played his last ODI in January 2022 against South Africa and wasn’t in India’s scheme of things.

That is why, during his interaction with Anjum, he said that it was unexpected for him to feature in the World Cup squad. Ashwin said, “I honestly wasn’t thinking about being here. This could be my last World Cup for India, so enjoying the tournament is of utmost importance.”

Notably, Ashwin was also part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team under MS Dhoni, along with Virat Kohli. Ashwin has some pretty good numbers in India, but his real test will be getting a place in the team. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are India’s first-choice spinners in the team.
