In the middle-order, the Punjab cricketer included Lara, Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara, who also serves as the wicket-keeper. The two all-round options contained Steve Waugh and Jacques Kallis. Bhajji also gave captaincy duties to the former Aussie captain. In the bowling department, Bhajji’s selections were Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, James Anderson and Shane Warne. M Muralitharan was included as the 12th man.

Shane Warne reacts to Harbhajan’s selection

Harbhajan Singh, who himself took 417 wickets in 103 games did not give him a spot in the final XI. In fact, he also chose to include Shane Warne rather than Muralitharan, who happens to be the highest wicket-taker in the game. In the batting department, Bhajji surprised many by ignoring the likes of Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid. Nevertheless, overall, it was a good selection by the player.

Meanwhile, Shane Warne reacted to the picks. He said it was an “interesting team”, certainly reacting to his selection ahead of Muralitharan.

Harbhajan Singh was a part of IPL 2021 in the KKR squad. However, it is said that he is set to announce his retirement from all forms of the game. Bhajji is reportedly close to joining an IPL franchise as a consultant.
