IPL Franchise takes dig at Shaheen Afridi after Arshdeep Singh defends 10 runs vs Matthew Wade in 5th T20I

It was a thrilling encounter between India and Australia in Bengaluru on Sunday. Eventually, it was India that came out victorious with a brilliant last over by Arshdeep Singh. The left-arm pacer came out to bowl the final over when Australia needed 10 runs and conceded only three runs.

Australian stand-in skipper Matthew Wade was batting, and it was all Australia’s game. But some brilliant bowling from Arshdeep turned the game in India’s favor. The game started with Australia winning the fourth consecutive toss in the series and opting to bowl first.

The match came down when Australia needed 10 runs off the last six balls, with Wade on the strike. Arshdeep bowled two dot balls to start the over, and the equation came down to 10 off 4. On the third ball, Wade tried to hit a ball for six but was caught at the long-on by Shreyas Iyer.

After that, Australia managed three singles and ended at 154/8 in 20 overs. With this, India won the final game by six runs and won the series 4-1. After the win, the IPL franchise Punjab Kings took a dig at Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi, who conceded three consecutive sixes to Wade during the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final.

In the PAK vs AUS semi-final, Wade finished the game with three consecutive sixes off Shaheen. But the Australian Southpaw couldn’t do it this time around. Notably, Arshdeep is part of the PBKS team. The franchise tweeted, “Not against this 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭-𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫, Matthew Wade.”

Earlier, India managed a total of 160/8 in the 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer played an important inning of 53 off 37. Jitesh Sharma (24) and Axar Patel (31) made important contributions in the end. With the ball, Mukesh Kumar took 3/32, while Bishnoi and Arshdeep took two wickets each. Axar bowled a brilliant spell of 1/14 and won the Man of the Match award.
