Joburg Super Kings complete a Chennai Super Kings like comeback to beat MI Cape Town and enter the semi-finals of SA20 League

Joburg Super Kings beat MI Cape Town by 76 runs in the 29th match of South Africa T20 league, the SA20 League. This was a brilliant win for the Super Kings as they had lost 2 wickets for 12 runs on the board.

Batting first, Joburg Super Kings scored 189 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, in reply MI Cape Town team was reduced to 113 runs in 17.5 overs. The MI Cape Town team is already out of the semi-final race and this match was not supposed to make much of an impact. Joburg Super Kings though has made its place in the last 4, the semi-finals.

MI Cape Town won the toss and elected to bowl first. Joburg Super Kings did not get off to a good start as both the openers were dismissed without opening their account. Captain Faf du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks both batsmen returned to the pavilion for 12 runs.

After this, Lewis de Ploy played a tremendous innings in the middle order. He played an unbeaten inning of 81 runs in just 48 balls with the help of 11 fours and 1 six. At the same time, Matthew Wade also scored 40 runs in 18 balls and due to that, the Super Kings team managed to score a big score of 189.

Chasing the target, the MI Cape Town team kept losing their wickets at regular intervals and due to this, 4 players were dismissed for 55 runs. Dewald Brewis played an inning of 27 runs and was the highest run-scorer for the team.

Grant Roelfson also scored 21 runs but the rest of the batsmen were a complete flop and due to this MI team could not even play the entire over and were reduced to 113 runs. Kyle Simmonds and Gerald Coetzee took 3 wickets each for the Joburg Super Kings to give their team a resounding victory.

With that, it is now confirm that the Super Kings will finish 2nd in the points table behind Pretoria Capitals and will play them in the semi-final 1 of the tournament.
