Advising distance from social media for a happier mindset, he responded similarly to Marco Jansen’s sledging on Day 1.

“Logon ko jo bolna hoga bolenge (People will say what they want to). If you are a public performer, performance is your only yardstick to stay away from criticism. And about social media, the farther you stay away from it, the happier you will be,” said Rahul post day 2’s play at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Sunil Gavaskar praised Rahul’s century among the top 10 by an Indian in the last 50 years, earning acknowledgment from Rahul himself. Reflecting on his time away due to an IPL 2023 injury, Rahul emphasized personal growth, noting the challenges both as a player and a person in international cricket.

Acknowledging the fickleness of social media comments, Rahul observed the rapid shift from trolls to fans and vice versa. He emphasized the impact of staying away for a healthier mindset, acknowledging the transient nature of online sentiments.

Regarding the Centurion surface, Rahul noted improvements on Day 2 but highlighted its unpredictable nature. He expressed the challenge of never feeling settled as a batter on this wicket, emphasizing the need for adaptability in the middle order based on match situations and a readiness to bat with the tail.
