The International Cricket Council (ICC) has published its latest T20I ranking on Wednesday and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has seen a drop in his rating and position, while KL Rahul has slipped by 2 positions to eight.

Virat Kohli, KL Rahul drop in position

The Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who scored a valuable fifty plus score to guide India to a fighting position against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021, has seen his ranking getting dropped from fourth to fifth, while opening batsman KL Rahul has dropped 2 places to find himself now at 8th in the latest ranking.

England batsman Dawid Malan has kept his position intact at the top of the podium as he remains number 1 in the latest update as well. South African batsman Aiden Markram has gained the most as he climbed up 8 positions to now find himself 3rd in the ranking, just behind Malan and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Aiden Markram played an important role in South Africa’s winning cause against West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2021. Markram scored 51 runs off 26 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 196.

Pakistan opening batsman Mohammad Rizwan has also taken step forward as he climbed 3 places and is now 4th in the latest T20 ranking update. Rizwan played knock of 33 runs against New Zealand and 79 runs against India, helping Pakistan win both of their 2 opening matches of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Indian cricket team’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma has also slipped by 2 positions and is now on 24th from 22nd. Afganistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz who has taken one of the biggest leap forward as he jumped about 9 positions and now slots on 12th position from 23rd position. Bangladesh’s Mohammad Naim is one of those as he climbed up 11 positions to now slot on 13th position.

In terms of bowlers, South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi remains at the top. There is no movement between the top 5 but 6th placed Ashton Agar and 7th placed Adam Zampa have swapped places.

Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf takes huge leap forward

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan has climbed one position to now 8th. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi leapfrogged 11 places to now find himself near of breaking into the top ten as he slots right at 12th position.

Other Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf, who picked up 4 wickets against South Africa, has jumped 34 slots to now slot into 17th position in the ranking.

Shakib Al Hasan remains the best all-rounder in this format with Afganistan off-spin bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nabi 2nd.
