Seth is a special talent who surprisingly did not get any opportunity to play for Bengal or Railways in the domestic cricket this year. Three years ago, Kanishk Seth won the Indian Premier League title with the Chennai Super Kings. He was in the same squad as MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Dwayne Bravo.

In an exclusive interview with Swagcricket.com, Kanishk Seth spoke about his IPL 2018 campaign, his run in Bengal T20 and his recent disappointments.

Kanishk Seth: Struggling a lot to be honest. Left my job to play for Bengal, but unfortunately didn’t even get registered in this year’s domestic cricket.

Q. You played for Krishnanagar Challengers in Bengal T20 Challenge and picked up some crucial wickets, including that of Abhimanyu Easwaran. Share some details about your experience of playing that tournament.

Kanishk Seth: Well, that’s my job to take wickets, but after performing, still you don’t get picked where you belong. It hurts.

Q. You are one of the few Indian players who can bowl left-arm pace and also smash big shots. Where do you see yourself in the coming years?

Kanishk Seth: Well as of now, I am not expecting anything because times are being really hard for me. Even after playing for Junior Indian side and India U-23 and picking wickets every season, still you didn’t get registered for BCCI domestic season this year. What else you expect!

Q. You have played all 3 formats of domestic cricket. Which is the toughest format for you and why?

Kanishk Seth: Nothing is tough. It is a matter of confidence and self belief. If you are born for cricket, nothing is tough (winks).

Q. You have played with some great Indian players in your career so far. Tell us the best advice you have received from a star Indian player.

Kanishk Seth: Well, it was a dream to be precise, and now after waking up its seems as a dream only! (Laughs) But yes learned a lot specially under the guidance of MS Dhoni and Raina bhai.

Q. 3 years ago, you won the IPL with Chennai Super Kings. How was it sharing the dressing room with likes of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Bravo?

Kanishk Seth: It was a great learning experience for me about preparation on and off the field. Being a team man is very important, you know, helping the teammates, coaches, staff. Also, being humble and grounded is the key part to success.

Q. You are a pace-bowling all-rounder like Bravo and Watson. Any special tips you took from the 2 legends?

Kanishk Seth: Learned a lot about variations and field placements, and a lot about batting from Watto!

Q. IPL 2022 Mega Auction is coming around soon. How have you been preparing for the new 2022 season? Which team would you like to play for in the IPL?

Kanishk Seth: Well as I told I have not been registered for this season so no questions about getting into IPL this year. I will be playing local games and tennis cricket here in Bengal to earn something! That’s what politics does to deserving cricketers.
