IPL 2024 Auction will happen tomorrow in Dubai, and the list of shortlisted names features only one Pakistan origin player. The active cricketers of the Pakistan team cannot participate in the Indian Premier League due to off-field reasons. However, the Pakistan players can participate if they have a passport or citizenship of another nation.
In the past, players like Ali Khan and Azhar Mahmood have played in the IPL despite being from Pakistan. Khan plays international cricket for USA now, while Mahmood got a place in the league because of his British passport.
Fans expected the likes of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim to be a part of the IPL Auction 2024 because they have retired from international cricket.
Also, Amir will reportedly get a British passport soon, whereas Wasim was born in Wales. However, none of the two names are present in the final list.
Who is Adil Rashid – The only Pakistan origin cricketer in IPL 2024 Auction
As mentioned ahead, there is one Pakistan origin cricketer in this year’s auction, and it is none other than Adil Rashid. He is a Pakistan origin player, but he plays for the England cricket team. Rashid bowls right-arm leg-spin.
He was a part of the England squad that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Apart from that, he has played for Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL as well. It will be interesting to see if he gets an IPL contract this year.
