Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in the Test and ODI format, has a history of losing the coin tosses. Many cricket fans would know that the skipper of the Indian men’s cricket team, Virat Kohli, also has the same habit. Former Indian men’s cricket team captain MS Dhoni had a better luck in winning and losing tosses.

Thus, at the press conference after the historic pink-ball Test match between the Indian women’s cricket team and the Australian women’s cricket team at the Carrara Oval, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, Mithali Raj reflected on her history of losing tosses and said:

“I didn’t want that to become a legacy. The way the girls have been pulling my leg for that! So I thought I should change. I need to learn from (MS) Dhoni on how to win a toss.”

The four-day Test match between the Indian women’s cricket team and the Australian women’s cricket team ended in a draw. Although the Indian women’s cricket team was playing its first-ever pink-ball Test match, they put up a great fight and denied the Australian women’s cricket team a win. After the match, both teams posed together for a photograph.

Indian women’s cricket team was undefeated in Tests under the captaincy of Mithali Raj this year

Mithali Raj captained the Indian women’s cricket team in two Test matches this year. The first one was against the England women’s cricket team and the most recent one against the Australian women’s cricket team. Both Test matches ended in a draw. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana were two of the top performers for the Indian women’s cricket team. Talking about the Test against Australia, Mithali added:

“Against the best sides, definitely yes. (Against) Australia this is the best game we’ve played. But in 2014, with eight debutants winning a Test in England against England, who had just won the Ashes. That was also very close. That was pretty great. The girls really put up a great show.”
