“Obviously their tactics….”- PCB Director Mohammad Hafeez slams Australia to hamper Pakistan’s preparation by offering dead pitch for practice game

The highly anticipated Pakistan’s tour of Australia is all set to start on December 14. The first test will take place at the Perth Stadium in Perth. Pakistan hasn’t won a test in Australia since 1999, and Australia has won all 14 matches played at home between the two teams.

So it will be exciting to see whether Australia can continue their dominance or whether Pakistan can sneak through them to create history. Well, the newly appointed Director of Cricket for Pakistan, Mohammad Hafeez, seems to be disappointed with the way the preparation has gone so far.

Hafeez looked baffled by Australia’s tactics ahead of the first test in Perth. The former captain has criticized the hosts for not offering them a helpful pitch in Canberra for the four-day practice match, which ended in a boring draw. It was the lone practice match for the visitors, which they played against the Prime Minister’s XI.

Batting first, Pakistan declared at 391/9 while the hosts made 367/4 in reply, and the Pakistani bowlers were not able to do anything on the dead pitch. However, the pitch they will be offered during the series will be quick and bounce, which is in total contrast to what they got for the practice game.

Hence, Hafeez pointed it out in his recent interview and said that it could possibly be the tactics of the hosts. Hafeez stated, “Obviously, we were really surprised and disappointed with the pitch we received for the practice match in Canberra. The disappointment was really high, as we were not expecting these kinds of arrangements, but it may be their tactics, but we are ready for that.”

However, he feels that Pakistan is ready for the challenge and has checked all the boxes. This will be a huge challenge for the Men in Green. It is also the first assignment for Shan Masood as the captain of the test team.
