England are the defending champion, and they will look to win their third title. On the other hand, Australia, which won the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, will eye for a historic hat-trick of the ICC trophy across formats.
The West Indies will also be a strong team in their own conditions. And not to forget about Pakistan, who finished as runner-up in the last edition. Team India will also be one of the contenders, as usual. South Africa will also be a tough team to beat.
However, it will be pretty tough to predict a team that can do well because the conditions in the USA and the West Indies are totally different from those in SENA countries. Veteran South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has predicted two finalists for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
In a recent interview, Maharaj picked India and South Africa as two finalists for the upcoming ICC tournament. He said, “It’ll be amazing to have a South Africa vs India final. After the round robins of the ODI World Cup 2023, I just heard the locals in India saying that they want a South Africa-India final.”
However, the spinner also talked about the “chokers” tag of South Africa. He said that they would try to end this in the coming tournament. South Africa did well in the ODI World Cup 2023 and reached the semi-final. They even came very close to winning the semi-final but eventually lost by three wickets against Australia at Eden Gardens.
