Team India is in Group A with Pakistan, the United States, Canada, and Ireland. They will play their first game on June 5 against Ireland. The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on June 9 in New York.

The conditions in the West Indies and USA will be on the slower side, and it will be a bit like the subcontinent. Hence, it will be tough conditions to bat on and score big totals. However, there will be some brilliant batting superstars taking part in the competition.

The English team will defend their title and aim to win their third title. Former English star Kevin Pietersen, who was a key member of England’s T20 World Cup 2010 win in the West Indies, talked about the upcoming tournament.  He won the Player of the Tournament award in England’s maiden T20 title campaign.

In his latest interview, Pietersen said it was pretty special for England when they won. He said the conditions in India and the West Indies are pretty similar, which is why the upcoming IPL 2024 will be a good platform to choose the players who can do well on the biggest stage.

However, when asked about picking a player who could be the standout performer in the T20 World Cup 2024, he named Shubman Gill. Pietersen said, “It is Shubman Gill. He is the guy.” However, Gill is not in good form at the moment, as he is struggling to score runs in the longest format.

However, his white-ball numbers are pretty good. He will be leading the Gujarat Titans in the coming IPL. His form will be very important for him to get a place in the T20 World Cup squad.
