Former Indian cricket team player Nikhil Chopra has opined that Rishabh Pant is way more dangerous than Shreyas Iyer. In his opinion, Iyer is nowhere near Pant when it comes to winning matches for the team at the international level.

Some fans have suggested that instead of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer should bat at the number four position for the Indian cricket team in the T20I format. However, according to Nikhil Chopra, Pant is the better option because he is a bigger match-winner than Shreyas Iyer.

Speaking on Khelneeti, Nikhil Chopra said:

“Pant can be extremely explosive on his day, as we all know. And, with no disrespect to Shreyas Iyer, he is nowhere near Pant when it comes to being a match-winner on a given day. Even on an average day for both, Pant will be the more dangerous of the two.”

India benched Shreyas Iyer and picked Rishabh Pant in the playing XI for the 1st T20I against the West Indies

The T20I series between the Indian cricket team and the West Indies cricket team is currently underway, where the Men in Blue have a 1-0 lead. The first T20I happened earlier this week, where the team management benched Shreyas Iyer and picked Rishabh in the playing XI.

Pant batted at the number four position after Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli. He scored eight runs off seven deliveries and then handed a catch to Odean Smith off Sheldon Cottrell’s bowling. Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav finished off the run-chase with six wickets and seven balls remaining.

The second T20I of the series between the Indian cricket team and the West Indies cricket team will happen tonight. It will be interesting if Shreyas Iyer gets a chance in the playing XI tonight at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
