The ongoing Asia Cup 2024 has been a brilliant platform for all the Asian team to prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. It will help these teams get ready for the coming mega event and try out the players that will be part of the World Cup.
Notably none of the Asian teams that are part of the World Cup, have not announced their World Cup squad yet. However, we might see very soon that these teams reveal their World Cup squads. Team IND a has already played two games so far in the Asia Cup 2023, but it hasn’t been complete.
The first game was washed out, while the second game against Nepal also saw a number of rain breaks. However, the World Cup squad is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday. Ahead of the squad announcement, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that the management was aware about such situations and had an ideal of the set of players that would play in the World Cup.
He stated that the first two games haven’t been complete and there are some areas to improve which needs to be rectified before the start of Super Four. Rohit said, “When we came here we knew what are World Cup 15 was going to be like. We can’t really look too much into these two Asian Cup games.”
The first game against Pakistan savdhaan Indian top order struggle against the quality pace bowling attack. It was Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya that helped team India reach respectable total. India didn’t bowl in that game as the rain washed away the second innings.
then against Nepal, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj took three wickets each. But the Indian fielding was below standard. However Rohit and Shubham Gill added an unbeaten 147 run partners to see the 10 wicket victory. Rohit made 74 off 59 while Gill made a 62 ball 67.
Notably, none of the Asian teams that are participating in World Cup have announced their squads.
