Pakistan left empty handed as Bangladesh beat them to win Bronze medal in Asian Games 2023

The Asian Games 2023 Bronze medal match between Bangladesh and Pakistan saw a thrilling match that went to the last over and last ball as the Bangla Tigers have beaten the Pakistan side to claim the Bronze medal.

Batting first in a rain reduced match, Pakistan cricket team scored only 48 runs in their 5 overs before the match had to be stopped due to rain. Bangladesh received a 65 runs target in 5 over as a DLS method revised target.

Bangladesh batter Rakibul Hasan hit a four of the last ball to win the Bronze medal for the Bangladesh team when 4 runs were required to win of the last ball of the 5th and the final over of the match.

It was the Bangladesh cricket team who won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, the match started delayed due to rain. Pakistan, batting first, scored 48 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. But the match had to be suspended due to rain for the considerable time.

Bangladesh were set a target of 65 runs in 5 overs as a revised target via DLS method. The match was a thrilling one as it went to the last over of the match. Bangladesh required 20 runs of the last over. Yasir Ali hit 6 sixes and a double in the first 3 balls of the over. Then a further 2 from the 4th ball but was bowled in the 5th ball. New batsman Rakibul Hasan needed to hit a boundary of the last ball to win the match, which he did and won the match for his side.

With that win, Bangladesh have sealed the Bronze medal in the Asian Games 2023, while Pakistan have been left empty handed. It will be India vs Afghanistan for the Gold medal in the final from 11:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST).
