Delhi Capitals have assembled one of their strongest IPL squads of all time at the 2025 mega auction. The presence of veterans at the auction table helped DC a lot as they managed to increase the price of other teams and at the same time, they bought their own players at a relatively cheaper price.

Mitchell Starc, who got an enormous INR 24.75 crore deal from the Kolkata Knight Riders last season, went to DC for just 11.75 crore this year. Similarly, even KL Rahul proved to be a bargain buy for DC at INR 14 crore. Here’s what DC’s playing XI will probably look like after IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Openers of Delhi Capitals – Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk

Although KL Rahul is available in the squad, DC will likely use Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk as their openers. The Proteas-Aussie duo can set the tournament on fire with their fantastic starts at the top of the order for DC. Faf and Jake should be the opening pair because Faf can be the anchor and Jake can be the big-hitter.

Middle Order – KL Rahul (c and wk), Tristan Stubbs, Abhishek Porel, Axar Patel and Ashutosh Sharma

If KL Rahul wants to come back to the Indian T20I team, he should play in the middle-order in IPL. He can realistically replace Rishabh Pant as the number one wicketkeeper of the team if he proves himself in the middle-order.

Tristan Stubbs, Abhishek Porel and Axar Patel will retain their spots in the middle-order. Joining them will be Ashutosh Sharma, who did consistently well for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.

Bowlers – Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar, Mohit Sharma and T Natarajan (Impact Player)

DC probably have the best fast bowling unit of the tournament. They have two reliable left-arm fast bowlers T Natarajan and Mitchell Starc along with death overs specialist Mohit Sharma and new ball bowler Mukesh Kumar. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel can form the spin attack of this team with Faf du Plessis being a leg-spin option if required by the Capitals.
