India vs Bangladesh Test series is the next assignment for the Indian cricket team in 2024. The Men in Blue are on a long break from cricket now. They played an away series against Sri Lanka, where they won by 3-0 in T20Is but suffered a 0-2 defeat in the ODI series.
Now, the Indian team will return in the World Test Championship arena for the first time since the home series against England, which happened earlier this year. India are at the helm of the WTC standings right now. Considering Bangladesh’s poor head-to-head record against India in the Test format, they should continue to be at the top of the table after this series as well.
Rohit Sharma will undoubtedly be the captain of India in the home Tests against Bangladesh in September 2024. Virat Kohli should be back in the team after missing the series against England due to personal reasons. Spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav should walk into the team as well.
Shubman Gill will likely continue at number three, with Yashasvi Jaiswal being the opener. Devdutt Padikkal, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel were quite impressive in their debut Test series against England. They should retain their places in the squad. Rishabh Pant should receive an opportunity to play some red-ball cricket before India head to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series 2024/25.
Jasprit Bumrah will reportedly be rested for this series. Perhaps, India should try out Mayank Yadav and Arshdeep Singh, who are in contention for the Australia tour. Navdeep Saini could receive a surprise recall as well because coach Gautam Gambhir loves his bowling in red-ball cricket and Mohammed Siraj may be rested to stay fresh for the Aussie tour. KL Rahul could complete the squad.
