Priyank Panchal reacts to getting picked for Indian team

Gujarat’s opening batsman Priyank Panchal, who has just recently been called up to the Indian senior squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa, has reacted to his inclusion.

Indian senior selection committee and the BCCI had announced Indian team’s Test for the South Series on the 8th of December and Priyank Panchal was eventually not part of it.

The Gujarat opening batsman, who is also their captain, has now been called up to the senior squad as a replacement of injured Indian team’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma, who has sustained a left hamstring injury.

Panchal spoke with the Times of India after it was revealed last night that he has been included into the squad as Rohit’s replacement.

The Gujarat opening batsman added that he had just landed in India and hasn’t even unpacked his stuff. It is to be noted that Panchal was leading the India ‘A’ squad against the South Africa ‘A’ in the three 4-day unofficial Test matches.

He stated that he has been waiting for this opportunity for long time, but, didn’t expected to get the opportunity this term, it came as a pleasant surprise for him.

He continued that he has felt sad for not getting opportunity to play for India even though he was scoring runs, and used to ask himself what he is was lacking and what kind of game is required in International cricket. He also believes that having recently played in South Africa will help him during the series.

Panchal has played 100 first-class matches and has scored 7011 runs. He has played 75 List-A (One Day), 50 T20 matches in the domestic circuit and has scored 2854 and 1327 runs respectively.
