Pakistan cricket team’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi recently shared his views on if he will ever play in the Indian Premier League. The IPL is the world’s biggest T20 league featuring cricketers from almost all nations of the cricketing world. Due to political reasons, Pakistan players have not played in the league after the 2008 season ended.

In the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, some big names like Shoaib Akhtar, Sohail Tanvir, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Salman Butt, Umar Gul and others participated in the league. Tanvir even won the Purple Cap and registered the first-ever six-wicket haul by a player in the IPL history.

Shaheen Afridi is a left-arm fast bowler like Sohail Tanvir. In a recent interaction as reported by Arfa Feroz Zake on Twitter, Shaheen was asked if he would ever play in the IPL. Here’s what he replied:

Shaheen Afridi won the Pakistan Super League as captain earlier this year

Earlier this year, Shaheen Afridi made his debut as captain in the Pakistan Super League and led the Lahore Qalandars to their maiden championship. Afridi has been one of the top left-arm fast bowlers in world cricket. He came into the limelight after his three-wicket haul against the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Afridi will get another chance to play against the Indian cricket team this year as the two arch-rivals will go head-to-head in the Asia Cup T20 and ICC T20 World Cup 2022. It will be exciting to see which nation comes out on top.
