“I am not hurt at all” – Rahul Dravid reacts to Wriddhiman Saha’s comments after axed from Test squad

Indian cricket team’s Head Coach Rahul Dravid has finally reacted to the comments made by the Indian wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha that the former suggested him to retire from International cricket as he won’t be considered for future series.

The Indian cricket team completed another clean sweep over the West Indies team in the T20I series played in Kolkata as Team India won the 3rd T20I by 17 runs.

Following which, team’s Head Coach Rahul Dravid attended the media in the post match press conference and was asked about the statement made by Wriddhiman Saha.

What actually happened was, Indian wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha told to ESPNcricinfo that he was suggested to retire from International cricket by the Indian team’s head coach Rahul Dravid as he won’t feature for the team in the long run and the team plans to groom a younger 2nd choice keeper, i.e. Srikar Bharat.

Following the 3rd T20I between India and West Indies, Rahul Dravid spoke to the media and when was asked about it, he stated that he is not hurt at all and has a deep respect for Wriddhiman Saha’s contribution and achievements for the Indian team.

He said that his suggestion for Saha came from his respect for him as he deserves more honesty and clarity and didn’t wanted him to hear the news from media.

He said, “I’m not hurt at all, I have a deep respect for Wriddhiman Saha and his achievements and contributions to Indian cricket.”

He said that he always have these type of conversation with the players and he is not hurt at all because he said that he doesn’t expect players to always like or agree with everything to say about them.

The Indian cricket team selectors, headed by Chetan Sharma announced the Indian team Test squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Rohit Sharma has been promoted to the Test captaincy role, while along with Saha, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma are the other senior players who have been dropped from the team.
