Currently in the UAE for the 2023 Abu Dhabi T10 League, Faf revealed ongoing discussions with South Africa’s cricket officials about his return. Expressing confidence in his comeback, he emphasized the need to strike a balance for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies next year.

Despite stepping away from Test cricket to focus on T20 competitions, Faf du Plessis has been excluded from national selection since his retirement. Despite his impressive performance, amassing 730 runs in 14 innings while leading the RCB in the 2023 IPL season, he was overlooked for the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups.
