It was the Pakistan captain Babar Azam who won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, his decision was proven all so wrong by the Australian opening duo David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.

Warner and Marsh took the Pakistan bowlers, pacers and spinner, for a trip around Bengaluru as the duo added an opening partnership of 259 runs in 33.5 overs before Marsh was dismissed after scoring 121. This partnership is the record opening wicket partnership in the history of the ICC ODI World Cup.

Warner also scored his century as he scored a mammoth 163 runs in 124 balls. But, it only followed downfall for Australia from there when they were easily expected to go over 400. Shaheen Afridi took 5 wickets, Haris Rauf took 3 wickets as Pakistan took a sigh of relief as they restricted Australia for 367 runs. Other than Marcus Stoinis’ 21 runs, the other Australia batters were really disappointing.

But for Pakistan to register their 3rd win in four matches after suffering a setback in the previous match, the Babar Azam led side will need to chase 368 runs against the Australian pace attack of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.
